“A family’s stability begins with having a place called home.”
“…for those condemned to living in shacks, the cycle of poverty, physical and emotional stress can result in negative impacts on their health, education and sense of security.”
“In 2002, Irish property developer Niall Mellon visited the Imizamo Yethu Township in Cape Town, South Africa. He was so moved by the horrendous living conditions he saw there, that he set up “The Niall Mellon Township Trust”, in order to help alleviate the plight of its residents. The Niall Mellon Township Trust are a house building charity who also provide additional support in townships, including community facilities and technology infrastructure.”
“Through partnering the communities in which we work we develop relationships with the people and learn about their way of life, their needs and how we can work together to provide long term solutions to some of the issues they face on a daily basis.”
“Our mission is to build sustainable communities. We aim to improve the quality of life for disadvantaged people living in the townships of South Africa by replacing shacks with low cost decent housing and providing community facilities.”
“Exposing people to the realities of poverty accelerates change.”
