Servicio De Escucha Statement: Servicio De Escucha sought to use the artist’s ‘disadvantage’ in working in a country where she does not speak the language to positive effect. In Servicio De Escucha the artist offered a fee service to her surrounding community, the service of listening. Encapsulated in a glass courtyard the audience could view those who availed of the service; unburdening themselves of their ‘problemas y sercretos’. As well as relating to the artist’s own working situation the work also engaged with Argentina’s culture and history of psychoanalysis and our universal need to be heard and listened to. The piece took place on afternoon of the RIAA exhibition and was open to all to participate.
